Playing with my new lens

Even though the weather is still crappy, crappy, crappy outside I have been playing a little with the new lens inside. The lighting was terrible so I had to change these to black and white to account for my missing flash.
Partial Credit

For the last several years I have been creating and checking things off my Life List. This past Saturday I attempted another on the list. I auditioned to sing the National Anthem for the Columbus Clippers. (The Clippers are our AAA minor league baseball team affiliated with the Washington Nationals.) When I first got there I thought I was in real trouble because a little girl signed up before me and she had a resume with an 8X10 headshot. I didn’t know I needed a resume. Although, wouldn’t it have been funny if I handed them a resume with my seven years experience as an engineer? Dave and I both thought my audition went really well and we realistically thought I was in the top 5.
Today I received a letter from the Clippers organization. It read:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for participating in our National Anthem Audition. Unfortunately, I have to inform you that we have decided to pursue other candidates.”
So, I’m giving myself partial credit for this Life List attempt. Maybe I’ll try again next year and have Dave sing harmony with me. Or maybe I’ll find another team (Destroyers? Blue Jackets?) to audition for.
New Toy

The Amazon fairies brought me a new toy yesterday. It’s the Canon 24mm f/1.4 wide angle lens. Dave and I only took about 10 pictures with it last night, but it is AMAZING! I can’t wait to use it.

Meredith Gordon Photography is looking for high school seniors to become MGP REPS! for the 2008-2009 school year.
Each representative will receive a FREE session. In addition, each MGP REP! will get 50 MGP REP! cards with your favorite photo from the session and studio information on the card. These cards will be used to gain referrals to Meredith Gordon Photography.
Did I mention the iPhone? Here’s the scoop. Each representative will receive one entry for every two people referred and scheduled with Meredith Gordon Photography for his/her senior pictures. The more people you refer and who book sessions, the greater your chances are of winning!
Interested? Here’s what I need from you. Send me an e-mail (meredith@meredithgordon.com) including what school you attend, why being a MGP REP! would be totally awesome, and how you intend represent Meredith Gordon Photography. Please include a picture of yourself in the e-mail that shows off your personality.
The Fine Print:
The value of the contest prize is $400 and will be provided as a $400 gift card to the Apple Store. The winner will be chosen at random on December 31st, 2008. The chances of winning are based on the number of entries received.
MGP REPS! submissions will be accepted between March 1st and April 30th, 2008. MGP REPS! will be notified on Monday May 5th, 2008. Selections will be at the discretion of Meredith Gordon Photography.
MGP REPS! senior portrait sessions will be conducted between May 5th and July 31st, 2008. Each MGP REP! or parent or legal guardian (if under the age of 18) must sign a release form allowing Meredith Gordon Photography to use the images in promotional material (website, blog, brochures, etc.). Each MGP REP! senior portrait session will last between 1-2 hours, include any number of outfit changes, and will be conducted onsite at the choosing of the client. Meredith Gordon Photography will not provide studio portraits. If the client needs a studio portrait for his/her yearbook, the client is responsible for finding alternative solutions. The final images will be posted on Pictage (www.pictage.com) for viewing and purchase.
