Christmas Card

I went out on a photo safari tonight in and around the town I live. I have created two different Christmas cards from my images. Which one do you like better? Or should I get both printed? You have until the end of the week to decide and then I’ve got to get them printed.

The thing about having an online journal–a blog–is that you put your writings out there for the world to read. The thing about having an online photo journal is to share your images with the world. I’m not very good at blogging consistently, although I have been blogging for years. Here’s the trade. I’ll agree to blog as much as possible, hopefully everyday, if you leave warm comments. Sound alright?
The image I am going to start with today is from my trip to Italy this summer. This was a great capture in the town of Montalcino in the heart of Tuscany.

The Levering Family

I had the privilege of shooting the Levering family last weekend. Here are some of my favorite shots.
Hey Geniuses!

Yeah, I’m talking about you!
I need some help from somebody who knows a technological thing or two. I have a new camera–the Canon 40D. At its highest resolution, it shoots at 10.1 MP. With me so far? If I shoot in JPG at the highest resolution and download the pictures the resolution is only 72 PPI (pixels per inch). Of course, the image size is huge–something like 26″X58″. But when I change the resolution to be 240-300 PPI the image size shrinks to 8″X12″. What if I want a bigger image, like an 11″X14″ or 16″X20″? Will I lose resolution? Am I thinking too hard about this? Am I doing something wrong?
Help please?
My Favorite Model, Sue
November 15, 2007 | Filed Under Portraits | 1 Comment
Sue is my closest friend from college. Without her I never would have made it through engineering school. We took the same classes all 5 years and split our homework–the only way to survive as an engineer. Funny enough, neither of us work as an engineer! She’s also one of the most physically stunning people I know and is so gracious enough to let me use her as a model whenever I want to shoot pictures. Tonight we toured the Short North area and got some terrific pictures. Here are just a few. Tell me what you think!
FAQ #3
November 13, 2007 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
A question was asked this week:
You took a ton of pictures during our session, how come they are not all on the CD?
Excellent question. I have been really cautious not to quote a number of images that will be on your CD. On the pricing page of the website, it states the CD provided will be of best images from the shoot. I’m not perfect. No photographer is. Not every shot I take from the session will turn out. The images on the CD are the ones I feel turned out best and best represent what we were trying to achieve during your photo session.

A few months ago I was contacted by a publishing company to use one of my self portraits I had posted on Flickr in a book about Ohio State fans. I agreed, and it is finally here. I believe the book will be in stores shortly.
